Yesterday was a real treat! I went to brunch at a new restaurant with one of my favorite people, Lori. When I say brunch, I mean bonus food alongside mimosas.
Gabriel’s Food + Wine is a new Gourmet Italian eatery located in downtown Cape Girardeau. The restaurant is situated in an old storefront, treating customers to a beautiful mix of natural light and warmth emanating from the natural stone floor, and grand chandeliers.
Overall it was a lovely, slow-paced dining experience. The wait staff and the chefs were fun and professional. It was the right mix of ambient noise to enjoy a conversation without straining to hear.
I had the Crab Benedict: crab cakes, spicy Sicilian aioli, poached eggs, hollandaise sauce, served with roasted potatoes and field greens. I am not usually a fan of eggs Benedict, but it came highly recommended by the staff. The dish was fantastic. The crab cakes were delicately seasoned, not to overwhelm the eggs. The organic cage-free eggs were cooked to a velvety perfection!
